Although the study of Christian Science was not commenced...

Although the study of Christian Science was not commenced for physical benefit, I have been healed of indigestion—the after effects of a surgical operation which the surgeon said would necessitate another; of mumps, attacks of grippe, and earache; and there has been great improvement in traits of disposition. In my family many ills and effects from accidents have been destroyed; and for the past seven years I have relied entirely on God, as I have come to know Him through Christian Science, for health, happiness, and prosperity.

I am extremely grateful for the help Christian Science has been to me in connection with our children. For a long time I was burdened with anxiety as one son passed through his teens, being filled with fear for his safety and well-being; but as thought gradually ascended to discern the fatherhood and motherhood of God, it was possible for me to lay aside my false concept of motherhood, and, like Abraham, I saw that what I had to sacrifice was the false human concept of man. Then the spiritual understanding that God is Father and Mother destroyed all fear that I might witness the boy's sacrifice to evil in any form. This understanding filled me with joy.

A younger son, who attends the Christian Science Sunday School, is learning to turn to God in time of need. On Christmas Day a heavy sedan, in which he was sitting, began to slip on the icy street and headed for a deep ravine. He sprang from the car, closed the door, and tried to hold the car back, at the same time repeating the "scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. In descending, the car made two turns as though carefully guided, avoided all trees, and landed at the bottom of the ravine, about seventy-five feet below, without even a pane of glass being broken. It was brought up again without injury, by knowing that God supplies the intelligence by which we work. On being questioned by a neighbor as to what he did, the lad replied, "I did all I could do, and then left the car with God."
