In a recent issue a local evangelist was reported as saying: "Page Mary Baker Eddy. Dr. Fosdick says there is no such thing as 'Right' or 'Wrong.' He's stealing her thunder." This reference to Mrs. Eddy might lead the uniformed reader to believe that the writings of that author contain statements in agreement with the quotation from Dr. Fosdick's declaration. But such a conclusion is far from the truth, as is known by those who have even casually read any of Mrs. Eddy's works. Her statements regarding right and wrong in human relations, and likewise concerning man's attitude toward his creator, are made in unmistakable language. Throughout all her writings is to be found constant admonition against wrong thinking and wrong action; and with equal emphasis she urges right doing as evidence of Christian living. In her principal book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes on pages 448 and 449: "It is Christian Science to do right, and nothing short of right-doing has any claim to the name. To talk the right and live the wrong is foolish deceit, doing one's self the most harm.... The wrong done another reacts more heavily against one's self. Right adjusts the balance sooner or later. Think it 'easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,' than for you to benefit yourself by injuring others."
