[Written for the Sentinel]

Alway

May I think always loving thoughts
The kind word say,
And sing most blithely, cheerily,
When days are gray;
Bring happy smiles
Into the eyes of every child,
Not just to-day—alway!

May I trace step by step the way
Our Master trod,
Each moment part of symphony
Of praise to God;
Each duty done
Be counted as a victory won,
Not just to-day—alway!

And every day at early dawn
May I have song
Of gratitude, both full and strong;
My heart contain
The sweet refrain,
Express the gladness of God's love
Not just to-day—alway!
