With a heart full of gratitude I wish to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. For about twenty years I have enjoyed its wonderful blessings. I was living in France when the first glimpse of its wonderful light reached me; and I was like one blinded by its clearness, beauty, and overpowering logic. With enthusiasm I immediately read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which a friend lent me. I read it from beginning to end at once, and never doubted that what I read was not only true but a spiritual revelation. My religious convictions and my faith in the Bible had always been firm, but I had never had the slightest thought of God as Love until He was revealed to me as such in Christian Science. I am sincerely grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that she has made this understanding of God available to all.

During the years following I lived, full of gratitude and happy with my "pearl of great price," as I called it to myself, alone in a foreign country without any contact with Scientists. Then I lived alternately in Germany, England, and France, until the outbreak of the world war led me back in a roundabout way to Dresden. To my joy I found here a Christian Science church and companionship with those of the same faith. I became a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church; and I am deeply grateful that I have the privilege of working in God's vineyard.

This is a short outline of my outward growth since coming into Christian Science; but the way which has led me from sense to Soul is much broader and longer and deeper, the way which has led me out of all kinds of uncertainties and inward darkness to the light of the understanding of our heavenly Father and His heavenly kingdom. Even though I was subjected to all kinds of tests, sickness among others, especially in the form of stiffness in the hands,—a difficulty which did not yield for a long time,—I have always remained conscious of God's inexpressible love, love which was first revealed to me in Christian Science. I pray daily for growth in spiritual understanding and for wisdom, so that I may help mankind and thus prove my profound gratitude.
