I am filled with profound gratitude to God for Christian Science. Its teachings have meant a great deal to me, and I want to tell of some of the many benefits I have received.

For more than eighteen years before coming into Christian Science I was a semi-invalid, and for about four years was an invalid. While going through this last experience I was in an automobile accident in which I was severely injured. Several ribs were fractured; and I was unable to help myself in any way. After a few months' time it was discovered that I had a ruptured appendix and gall-bladder adhesions. I consulted five of the best physicians in this city, and in their opinion there was nothing to do but to operate. I had always opposed operations, but had come to the point where I would consent to almost anything, as I had been a sufferer for such a long time. A major operation was performed. This left me in a critical condition; and for several months I became worse all the time. I was told that it would take a year to see results. I was patient, but could see no improvement as time went on. The same condition was again experienced, and another operation was suggested. During this time dropsy and cirrhosis of the liver had developed. However, I would not consent to another operation, and daily prayed to pass out of all my misery.

Some eight years before this a dear sister had been healed in Christian Science; but I would never believe I needed anything but materia medica. This sister came to see me daily, and did her best to get me to try Christian Science; but I would not accept it. Then I was told that nothing more could be done for me by the physicians in attendance. After three weeks of mental and physical suffering, I called for help from a dear practitioner. Without any faith in Christian Science at the time, I was instantly healed of all suffering. I then began to study.
