[Written for the Sentinel]

Eternal Harmony

Moab rebels, the king of Israel calls
Upon his brother kings for aid. The land
All desolate is parched. Then upward looks
Jehoshaphat unto the man of God,
Elisha, prophet of the Lord Most High.
No inspiration comes, the land is dry;
The prophet would depart, from sinners flee.
Then swift an angel thought comes to his aid:
Bring me a minstrel.
Into his consciousness there steals a sweet
And flowing melody—God's presence felt;
Elisha wields His power in harmony.
Into earth's furrows deep they open wide
Ditches that they with water shall be filled—
Then cometh victory.

So, when our consciousness seems dark and drear,
The wells of inspiration dry, then let us still
The strife, and list for music, harmony,
The angel voice that speaks if we will hear;
In human consciousness prepare a place,
That God be known.
Waters of Life will flow, God's victory sure,
If we but join the eternal harmony.
