The Lectures

Utica, New York (First Church).

Lecturer: Gavin W. Allan; introduced by John H. Leppart, who said:—

On page 494 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we read, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." When Mrs. Eddy wrote these words she repeated the assurance which we find all through the Bible, that God, divine Love, is ever ready and willing to heal the diseases and solve the problems of mankind. We have only to study these teachings and apply the rules of Christian Science to bring about this much to be desired result. Some years ago I was in bondage to a so-called incurable disease. A prominent surgeon whom I consulted advised an operation as my only hope. This operation was not to be a cure, but only to give relief, since the disease would very likely return. This was unsatisfactory; therefore help was sought in Christian Science; and in an incredibly short time the healing was effected and the disease disappeared. This occurred about nine years ago; and as the disease has not returned it may be assumed that the healing is permanent.
