I desire to testify to the healing I have received through...
I desire to testify to the healing I have received through the application of Christian Science, and to express my appreciation for Mrs. Eddy's unselfish and consecrated work; also my gratitude to those who have so faithfully helped me over many rough places along the way.
When a small child I was healed of deafness, and Christian Science has met every need in later years. I picture my experience as one large ball of snarls. Until I intelligently applied Christian Science to the unwinding of these hard and long-standing tangles, they seemed immovable, and many times I listened to the arguments of material sense and accepted the beliefs of discouragement, self-pity, and fear.
One morning on studying an article in the Sentinel I learned how true it is that, as the writer said, "Place is no more a locality than heaven." This healed my unwillingness to be in the place where this article found me. I immediately declared with joy and gratitude that I was already in my right place, and thankful that I loved to be where God would have me be. This, with other helpful thoughts from the article, enabled me to be freed from the burden of self-pity, self-will, and dread.
I see now how this light of Truth has continued to free me in many other directions, enabling me to loosen the snarls that were only hard because I had failed to see the right place to commence my unraveling. The past three years have been full of joy and gratitude for the unraveling process, for with each untangling I am finding more courage, patience, and the Love that never fails. As Mrs. Eddy states in her address given on pages 149 and 150 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany": "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee."
Words cannot express my gratitude to our beloved Leader, who has given the full and final statements of Christian Science. I also have sincere appreciation for the Board of Directors of The Mother Church, who so faithfully are fulfilling the desiresof of our Leader in accordance with the Manual of The Mother Church.
(Mrs.) M. Edna Whitten, Glendale, California.
