[Written for the Sentinel]

Footsteps

If I each day am turning more and more
To Thee, and counting less the steps which come before
Where all is Thine;
If I am holding fast the goal ahead,
If I with trust in Thy safe guidance onward tread,
Then joy is mine.

If I am shutting out the myriad claims
Of limitations, woes of whatsoever names,
Then peace is mine;
For Truth, the Comforter, is ever nigh
To show that Love, the source of infinite supply,
Is always mine.

If I am realizing some degree
Of His great care; if loving-kindnesses to me
More clearly shine,
Then shall I have no need to doubt or fear;
For now the goal that seemed so far is drawing near,
And strength is mine.
