Filled with great gratitude towards our Father-Mother God, I wish to testify herewith to the healing power of Truth.

When I began to despair of life, and could see no ray of light, having been under medical treatment almost daily for three months, the physician decided to send me to a spa to alleviate or, maybe, to heal, by a mud-bath treatment, the inflammation and a tumor, as physicians called it, from which I was suffering. The doctors considered my case rather dangerous, and only by the daily use of morphine was it possible to quiet the terrible pain. I decided, therefore, to follow the advice of the physicians, who from their point of view meant well. I began to make preparations for the journey with a heavy heart; for it meant leaving my husband and two children alone. Then an acquaintance came to me with the following words: "If you could accept the teachings of Christian Science, it would not be necessary for you to go to a spa; you would be healed." I was filled with joy. My husband advised me to undertake the journey and to have Christian Science treatment after the cure. But I replied: "To-morrow is Wednesday. I must first attend a Wednesday evening meeting, and then I shall see."

I then urged my friend to give me some literature, for I already believed without seeing. I felt this was the light. She very kindly lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and a volume of Der Herold der Christian Science. It was very late when I arrived home after this wonderful conversation, and I read the textbook all night long. By dawn I had read more than half of it. I then knew with certainty that this was the only way I could be healed. The following morning I immediately went to a practitioner. She asked me if I had read any Christian Science literature. When I told her I had read more than half of the textbook, she gave me a treatment at once. While I was reading the textbook, it seemed as if scales had fallen from my eyes, and I fully recognized that this was the truth which makes free. All the different kinds of medicine I had, and these were many, were destroyed.
