Words can never express my gratitude for Christian Science
Words can never express my gratitude for Christian Science. I realize that it is only by service lovingly given, by following the instructions in the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and in Mrs. Eddy's other writings, and by consistently living the truth, that I can express it.
In 1918, while traveling from one state to another, I was suddenly seized with a very severe case of what two attending physicians called Spanish influenza and pneumonia. After all that they could do for me had been done, I was taken to a large hospital in a near-by city, where I was examined by two specialists and had X-ray pictures taken by two other physicians. After seventeen days without material food, I was taken to my mother's home in a hopeless condition. A loving friend said, "Why do you not try Christian Science?" I said that I had tried everything else, and although I did not believe in Christian Science I would try it. A practitioner was called, and a treatment lovingly given. In two hours I arose, dressed, and ate a hearty meal. The healing was wonderful: old beliefs of inherited stomach trouble, ingrown toenails, chronic throat trouble—all were healed in the one treatment.
Words could not express my gratitude. I began the study of Christian Science most earnestly, became a member of The Mother Church and a Christian Science Society, and have had the sacred privilege of class instruction, of reading in a society, of serving in the Sunday school, and of helping in the healing work of Christian Science. I am indeed grateful to God for these blessings; for the Christian Science periodicals; and for everyone who has helped me along the way.—(Mrs.) Effie Winne Stork, Wellington, Colorado.
