"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." With sincere gratitude I wish to acknowledge how God guided me when I was obliged to go to the hospital on New Year's Day, 1922, when suffering from the grippe. I was opposed to going to the hospital, as I had been an adherent of Christian Science for more than ten years, but was forced to on account of the danger of contagion. However, in spite of this, I worked as we are taught in Christian Science. At the hospital I was taken with diphtheria in a severe form. All night long I worked in Christian Science, and in three days I was perfectly healed of this complaint.

While still in the hospital I received news that my dear mother was ill. I demanded to be discharged immediately, so that I could visit her. The physician told me I was suffering from a very bad lung trouble, that I had a temperature of 104 degrees, and that it was impossible for me to withstand a three hours' journey in such cold weather. But as I insisted, I was discharged at my own risk at six o'clock in the evening. I did not take any notice of the intense cold, and went home, where I worked in Science all night. I clung to the thought that God would guide me, and that Truth would conquer. And thus it was; for since then I have never had medical help, and am perfectly well.

I am grateful to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who showed us the way to Truth and Love; and I am sincerely grateful to the dear practitioner who, when the waves seemed to close over me and I thought I must succumb, took me with true love, gentle admonition, and kindness of heart by the hand, and led me in the right way again.
