The One Mind

One who seems beset with a problem in business will derive great comfort from the study of a single sentence in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." On page 544 Mrs. Eddy says, "All is under the control of the one Mind, even God." This is a rock, a firm foundation whereon to erect faith and argument, against which the false elements of fear, doubt, and discouragement beat without avail.

In his first epistle to the Corinthians, Paul wrote, "To us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him." Therefore, with one God, one Father, we individually bear witness to but one Mind, which gives unity to thought and action. Since God is good, and since He is infinite, we can rationally claim that this Mind, which is God, is wholly good, not a mixture of good and evil.

It matters not what the seeming problem is, constant reliance on the control of the one Mind will prove a strong defense, when realized and persistently applied. Let us take, for example, the common belief of unemployment, and see how this divine control may be proved to govern. Unemployment is really only a false belief, since man, reflecting God, who is Life, in reality constantly manifests right activity; for right activity consists in reflecting or expressing Godlike qualities. Thus we see, in the first place, that men are always employed about the Father's business when they are expressing intelligence, activity, unselfishness, and the like. If they are in earnest, they will find ample opportunity to express these divine attributes.
