I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing...
I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing (although I was greatly in need of healing), because I did not then believe in the efficacy of its healing power. I came into Christian Science because I found it to be the religion which Christ Jesus lived and taught—the religion of Love. When I had studied the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," as well as Mrs. Eddy's other works, and had read all the authorized Christian Science literature published during a period of six years, and had attended the church services and testimony meetings, I could not fail to see that Christian Science is the truth, the truth which Jesus said "shall make you free." I then asked for treatment for a severe chronic complaint, from which I had suffered for twenty-seven years, and was healed of that trouble in one absent treatment. I was healed at the same time of a rash that had caused great discomfort for about fifteen years. I had sought but had not received help from doctors during those years of suffering; but am thankful to say that I have had no return of even the symptoms of those complaints since I was healed in Christian Science, which was about seven years ago.
The physical healing in Christian Science, beautiful and comforting though it is, pales before the spiritual regeneration which takes place in one's consciousness.
I am grateful for the privilege of being a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church. I am very thankful to God for sending us the promised Comforter in the teachings of Christian Science. I am thankful to Christ Jesus for being the perfect Ensample. I am grateful to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for all that she has done for the Christianization of mankind.—
