Chemicalization

Chemicalization is a subject quite familiar to every Christian Scientist. Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of this Science, has presented us with the word "chemicalization," and she has also given its definition on pages 168 and 169 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." There she says: "Here let a word be noticed which will be better understood hereafter,—chemicalization. By chemicalization I mean the process which mortal mind and body undergo in the change of belief from a material to a spiritual basis."

Our Leader has here offered something which is indeed of most vital interest and importance to every student of Christian Science. It is also something for which all should be most grateful, since chemicalization is the process whereby all beliefs of evil are brought to the surface in order that they may be proved unreal, nothing. It is therefore never to be feared, but should always be welcomed, because it is a sure sign of Immanuel, or "God with us." Always it is a proof that Truth is at work in our thinking.

When the absolute truth was revealed through Christian Science that man is here and now the perfect image of his Father-Mother God, the infinite good, it began to lay bare the claims to an existence in matter and apart from God as falsity, illusion. From the first instant that this truth of being is allowed to enter the door of the individual human consciousness, its reformatory work begins. This work must, of course, continue with each one until every mortal fault is uncovered, rebuked, and relinquished.
