The Highway of Thought

It is the wish of every Christian Scientist to make as rapid progress as possible in his journey from a material sense of things to the point where he may be able to realize God's creation as entirely spiritual. As our journey is a mental one, we travel on the highway of thought. Our thoughts must be pure and God-reflected, or we shall find ourselves straying on to a false and treacherous road, far out of our course, and thus delay the hour of arrival at the goal. If we thus stray, we oftentimes must retrace a long and weary way back to the true path, which leads to perfect harmony.

If we would fill our lives with the sunshine of God's blessings, we must exclude from our thought every argument of evil, keeping ever in view the fact that man is now dwelling in the atmosphere of purity, wisdom, health, beauty, harmony, and God's loving abundance. If we will accept this fact of the infinite goodness of God, of His perfect, spiritual creation, we shall not have to spend time in tearing down the arguments of evil; for there is no room for error in the consciousness that is filled with good.

The light of Truth will illumine our pathway when we awake from the dream of materiality to realize that God is the only reality—just God alone, the divine intelligence that directs every activity, from the opening of the bud to the planets in their courses. The more our thoughts turn away from sense-testimony to contemplate the perfection of divinity, the brighter will grow the pathway, the easier the ascent; and the more often shall we hear a voice saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it."
