The desire to find an answer to crying need drew me...

The desire to find an answer to crying need drew me irresistibly to Christian Science. Life to me seemed rather fantastic, and I longed to realize the substantiality of existence. My mother had investigated this religion before me, and as I was not robust when a younger girl I occasionally read some of Mrs. Eddy's writings while indisposed in bed or convalescing. The logic of them appealed to me.

I had various talents I wished to cultivate, and the desire to know which way to turn led me in desperation to a Christian Science practitioner's office. In fact, the very way in which I was brought face to face with this practitioner, whom I had not seen for a few years, whose name I did not remember, and who had told me to call if ever I were interested in becoming more enlightened on the subject of Christian Science, is a demonstration in itself. I now feel that one's career is to perceive the need of what the Father would have one do, whether it be in public or in private life, and then live in obedience to His demands.

Physical healings that I have experienced through my own understanding of the truth, or with the aid of a practitioner, are of catarrh, constipation, grippe, influenza, fatigue, sprained ankle, dislocated jaw, a severely bruised eye, sore throat, and so on. I have been healed of the desire to smoke or drink, which I at one time felt was necessary. However, that which is of most significance to me in the healing through Christian Science is the daily transformation of character.
