The Lectures

Chicago, Illinois (First Church).

Lecturer: William D. Kilpatrick; introduced by Fred Mahler, who said:—

Christian Science is the religion of love; and divine Love imparts the joy of hopefulness to the depressed and discouraged. I speak from experience, because about fourteen years ago, when depressed and discouraged and very miserable from the belief of being a failure, I was directed to this church, and here I soon learned of God as Love. I shall always remember my joy in first realizing that truth, and that man is not condemned to failure; that the understanding of Christian Science is the means of overcoming all failures, and the regaining of true health, happiness, and right living. As we read in Isaiah, "Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away."
