Seven years ago everything that I had believed in seemed to totter about me. I was in need of physical relief from much pain and suffering, and the doctors had done their utmost; but I was not well. The teachings of the church in which I had been brought up did not seem to meet my need. I loved the things of the world; but they seemed to have lost their interest and diversion. I was becoming greatly depressed, and felt as if life were not worth living.

Christian Science had been called to my attention several years before this time. I had attended a few church services, and been offered the use of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I did not seem to have any interest in reading the book. I then came to the place where I plainly saw that everything had failed me, and I eagerly turned to Christian Science for help. I went to a practitioner and told her I was willing to do anything to be healed. I received immediate relief from my suffering, but found that to have any permanent peace I must let go of fear, revenge, hatred, malice, and all thinking which is the opposite of that standard which we have in Philippians, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."

I have passed through many trying experiences in these seven years, but have always been helped by Christian Science. My daughter, about seven years old, has never had any help outside of Christian Science. Her every need has been met by applying this truth when she seemed to be in discomfort during the time she had whooping cough, measles, and other discordant conditions. I am so grateful to have learned that we have one "Father-Mother God, all-harmonious" (Science and Health, p. 16), and that I do not have to fear heredity or any other of evil's claims. I was taught to be afraid of everything. I am more grateful than I can tell to know that I can teach my child not to be afraid of anything, because God fills all space.
