Christian Science healing came into my life after many...

Christian Science healing came into my life after many years of suffering from asthma. This trouble was ingrained in my consciousness at such an early age that it actually seemed to have become a part of my being. Many nights I could not lie in bed, but slept in a chair. The weather, food, exertion, and in fact almost everything I did, made breathing difficult. Many doctors, different remedies, and different climates were tried, but with no lasting benefit. In 1909 my condition became so serious that a lung specialist gave me but one year to live. It was then I heard of the healing through Christian Science of an acquaintance who had suffered from a similar trouble. In spite of my ignorance of and prejudice against Christian Science I consented to have treatment. My case was taken up by a practitioner and I received immediate relief. The first time I looked through "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, even though only reading at random, I was so greatly benefited that without thinking of any physical condition I put on my hat and went to my father's office, much to the surprise of persons who had seen me in great distress a short time before. There were many fears and false arguments to be met, but there has always been and there continues to be great cause for rejoicing. Although our entire family had always been faithful members of a Protestant church, it was not until Christian Science came into the household that the practical application of the Scriptures to everyday experience began to unfold. The physical healing is a great blessing, but far greater is the understanding I am gaining of how to arise and go to the Father, the Giver of "every good gift and every perfect gift . . . with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." I am deeply grateful for class instruction; for work in the Sunday school; and for all of the activities of the Christian Science Cause. — (Miss) Adolia M. Gorsuch, Washington, District of Columbia.
