A press dispatch from Cincinnati, Ohio, published in a recent issue, telling of a resolution introduced at the thirty-sixth annual convention of the central conference of American rabbis, and purporting to appoint a committee to determine just how far mental healing is compatible with the Jewish religion, has been brought to my attention.

It is stated that after a prolonged discussion the measure was adopted by an overwhelming majority. During the discussion Christian Science was mentioned; and the inference in the report is that the convention regarded Christian Science and mental suggestion as one and the same thing.

In order that your readers may not be thus confused, will you please allow me space for the following. Christian Science and mental suggestion are direct opposites; for Christian Science is first and foremost the religion taught and practiced by Christ Jesus nineteen centuries ago. God is its underlying divine Principle; and Christian Science depends solely upon God for its healing efficacy. In acknowledging God as the one and only Mind, it eliminates any possible belief in the manipulation of the so-called human mind, or mental suggestion. Also, Christian Science cannot be used for any evil purpose; nor can a person be treated in Christian Science without his consent. Christian Science can be practiced only to heal and to save. On page 469 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in answering the question, "What is Mind?" says: "Mind is God. The exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind, and that the supposititious opposite of infinite Mind—called devil or evil—is not Mind, is not Truth, but error, without intelligence or reality. There can be but one Mind, because there is but one God; and if mortals claimed no other Mind and accepted no other, sin would be unknown. We can have but one Mind, if that one is infinite."
