I was an intense sufferer from stomach and kidney trouble,...

I was an intense sufferer from stomach and kidney trouble, from high blood pressure and worry, which caused paralysis. I spent many months in the hospital, and had several very severe operations. Everything that medical aid and kindness could do to relieve me was done; but no permanent cure was effected. I was unable to walk; and for six years had to get about by the aid of crutches. I had lost all hope in life, and had resigned myself to be an invalid for the rest of my days. It was decided to send me to a home for incurables. I did not want to go, and in April, 1923, two of my children and I moved near some relatives. The first Sunday in May, Christian Science was brought to my notice by my brother and his wife. They telephoned for a practitioner, and when talking with her I felt much interested. She lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I began reading, and the more I read the more I wanted to. In three months I had gained nineteen and a half pounds. I can eat any kind of food now, something I had not done for years. I can also walk entirely without the aid of crutches.

I cannot express my gratitude in words for the wonderful blessings and spiritual uplift that have come to me and mine from our heavenly Father through the reading and study of Mrs. Eddy's book, which brings to light the truth about God's love — God, the wonderful Healer and Comforter as revealed in Christian Science. God's gracious promises are fulfilled here on earth. We do not have to wait for a time to come to experience their fulfillment. I am very grateful also to the practitioner for the wonderful assistance I have received. I know I am healed; the mist is rolling away. I feel that life is worth living now; and I thank God for the privilege of being able to take a small part in giving out this truth to the world and thus helping humanity.
