I was healed in Christian Science of an illness which had held me in bondage for nine years, an illness which the doctors named Graves' disease, and one for which they had found no remedy. I was in the hospital for nine months, twenty weeks of which time I was in bed; and I had as many as five different medicines to take during the day. I went out of the hospital much weaker than when I went in, and with the evidence of the complaint more noticeable. I was told that people suffering from it usually lived about ten years, but seldom longer. I accepted that as truth, and was quite resigned, as from childhood I had always been ailing and delicate. When this illness came along I, as well as many others, thought it would prove to be the end of my troubles; and so it did, but not in the way we all expected, for during the ninth year Christian Science was presented to me, and I was completely healed. The healing was a slow one, but none the less sure.
I have had an instantaneous healing of gastritis. I had been ill from the early hours of the morning until after ten o'clock at night, and was seemingly in a serious condition; but when a faithful and loyal worker in Christian Science had given me absent treatment, I felt the healing power of the work that was done for me, and between half past ten and eleven o'clock I knew I was healed. I soon was in a sound sleep, and was up early the next morning, and able to eat anything that same day.
I have witnessed, through the faithful and loving help of a practitioner, who reflected God's healing power, the beautiful healing of a baby girl, twenty months old. The child had swallowed a pin. I was healed of a great fear at this time, as the little one was in my care, her parents being many miles away. I was enabled to see God's tender mercies to usward, and to prove His omnipotence. Every article I read in our periodicals seemed to be written especially for me, and afforded just the help and encouragement I needed.
