The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Third Church).

Lecturer: Salem A. Hart, Jr.; introduced by Cecil S. Raper, who said:—

One of the characteristics of the human race is the desire to lean on some one when the beliefs of sorrow, sickness, discouragement, doubt, and so on, come upon us. In childhood days we turn to human parents, and through the years to some human or material means for temporal support. All this time a deaf ear is turned on that loving invitation and promise of the Christ, that has come ringing down the ages: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The first sentence in the Preface to the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, reads, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." Christian Science students are joyfully proving this statements, and are daily turning to the Christ, Truth, for their permanent support.
