I can say with the Psalmist, "I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice," and the voice of Truth came to me saying, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." The following Wednesday evening after this experience I was led to a Christian Science church, and I shall never forget the burden which fell away when "Shepherd, show me how to go" (Poems, p. 14), written by Mrs. Eddy, was sung. That moment I knew I had found the true church, for which I had been seeking so long. When I opened the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I felt as if I had been lifted to another plane of existence; and after I had read a few chapters I exclaimed, "This is the true philosophy of life." Only those who have passed through a like experience know the joy and spiritual uplift which comes at such a time.

Ever since that experience it has been my one and only ambition to learn the letter of Christian Science, to imbibe its spirit, and to live Christian Science, that is, to obey the truth. I am so grateful for the help it has been not only in healing disease for me and for my family, but in showing us how to work out each problem as it has come up, and also for the prevention of sickness, fear, and inharmony. Christian Science has healed for us St. Vitus's dance, ptomaine poisoning within twenty-four hours, chicken pox and measles without a meal being missed or a day spent indoors, whooping cough within three weeks, with no discomfort, influenza, accidents, bowel trouble, indigestion, and numerous other ailments. Dispositions have been improved, household and business problems solved, and a great deal of fear eliminated.

This is not nearly all that Christian Science has done for me and mine. It has shown me the true incentive for work, the work of working out one's own salvation; and it has shown me that this is worth striving for, because it is for eternity, and every endeavor in right thinking and acting is to this end. I have also learned to some extent what our dear Master meant by saying that we should forgive until "seventy times seven," and what he also meant when he said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
