It is hard to put into words the gratitude I feel for what...
It is hard to put into words the gratitude I feel for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I had spent seven years in the wilderness, in suffering and pain, not knowing what it was to draw a breath free from pain; and in all that time I had been under medical treatment. I had had two capital operations, and was advised to undergo a third for a tumor which was visibly manifested. Then I rebelled—my cross seemed more than I could bear. At this time Christian Science was presented to me, and although I did not have any faith in its ability to heal me, I did think it might help me mentally. So going to a practitioner I asked for treatment, explaining the condition and saying that all arrangements were made to enter the hospital the following week. At the close of the treatment these words were spoken: "Do not worry; you will not have to go to the hospital, Just go home and rejoice."
I did not at that time realize the healing; but several days later, found myself free from all pain and, looking quickly for the evidence of the tumor, saw that it had disappeared. Great indeed was the rejoicing and praise of God for His wondrous kindness and love; and right then and there it was declared that never again would we resort to any other means for healing, but that we would apply ourselves to the study of Christian Science and try to live the gratitude we felt. The physical healing was only the beginning. The mental healing was more wonderful still; the freedom from fear loosened the prison bars, and the revelation of the omnipresent, omnipotent One, with the realization of man's at-one-ment with the infinite, has brought the peace that passes all understanding.
For the many wonderful blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science, I am indeed deeply grateful.
