I, also, wish to express gratitude through these pages for a healing I experienced in Christian Science. On the Sunday after Christmas, 1923, the upper part of my left arm suddenly became stiff. It grew very painful, and I gradually lost all power to use the arm. I worked as we are taught to do in Christian Science, and the pain diminished; but the stiffness remained. There was so much work waiting for me that in accordance with Mrs. Eddy's injuction on page 420 of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I wrote to a practitioner for help. Then error broke forth with great force and raged terribly. But nothing could shake my confidence in God; nothing could prevent me from reading the textbook. I was perfectly clear to me that error cried so loud because it knew that its time was short. This proved to be true; for the very next morning great relief came. Fever, inflammation, swelling, pain—all had disappeared. Fear was destroyed and my consciousness was filled with inexpressible joy. I was also gradually able to move my arm.

The practitioner had been working for me three days when I recognized that I had not been expressing forgiveness as much as I should as a Christian especially as a Christian Scientist. I was filled with deep and sincere remorse.

At this moment I noticed that I had lifted my left arm above my head, a movement which a few minutes before had been impossible Deeply affected by this experience, I thanked God audibly for it. Truth had uncovered this fault of mine. I recognized the mental cause of the illness, recognized the root of the evil, and worked in this direction; and from that moment the healing progressed rapidly. I was able to fulfill all my duties, and could soon use both arms equally well again. Now I can even reach farther up my back with the arm that was stiff than with the other one. which never had anything the matter with it. I know that only the activity of Truth could ever have caused this perfect result. I rely on Truth now, fully and entirely; and I continually experience sublime proofs that Mrs. Eddy's teachings are divinely authorized.
