I wish to express my sincere gratitude to God and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the wonderful comfort and happiness and moral uplift that have come into my life through the knowledge of what God really is, as explained in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." From about the age of twenty-one, and for fifteen years or so afterwards, I was frequently in the doctor's care with heart trouble, nervousness, and other ills. I would apparently get well, and then after a little spell of work (I was a nurse) I would have to give up again.

Christian Science was first presented to me in 1914; and then war broke out and I was too busy to think much about it, except that it seemed to give a more hopeful outlook on life than the so-called orthodox churches, among which I had been always looking for a religion that would satisfy. At the end of 1916, when I again had a bad breakdown, I decided to leave medical nursing and get other work, so that I could study Christian Science. Help for the physical condition was asked for and received, with no further return of the trouble; and work that was particularly suitable was found in a marvelous way. Malarial fever, burns, colds, and many other difficulties have been quickly overcome. I am most grateful for the privilege of class instruction and for the Association meetings, which are always such an uplift and incentive to further effort. It is impossible to express adequately one's thanks for all the activities of The Mother Church and for membership in the same, but I hope to be able to show my thanks by doing in some degree the works of our Master, Jesus the Way-shower.
