Loving-kindness brought to me, through Christian Science,...
Loving-kindness brought to me, through Christian Science, the God who is Love. In October, 1914, I was suffering from illness of mind and body, the result of many years of unhappiness. Life seemed almost over for me. I had no one to depend upon in any way, when a dear friend who had looked into Christian Science a little suggested that I go and talk to a Christian Science practitioner whom she knew. Without knowing why, I was very unwilling to do this. I left her, silently saying I would not go; but found myself ringing the bell at the home of the practitioner. I wanted only one thing, and that very much. I was in a state of fear and hysteria if any suggestion was made. This dear woman talked only of God, walking about as she combated my persistent demands, always saying, "God can take care of all that." I replied, "Yes, I know He can; but will He?" I left her much better condition; the calmness lasted, and the hysteria never returned. The following Wednesday, feeling restless, I attended a Christian Science testimony meeting. It was a small church; yet every one of those dear people come to me so lovingly, I felt the love to be genuine; and the little place became a haven to me.
There have been many beautiful experiences in my life since then, many of them while my dear son was overseas. On two occasions it might have been fatal to him had I not known a little about God and His protection. I am grateful for the Sunday school, for my young daughter learned there about God. She has a fine position, and is very happy in her work. I am also grateful for class instruction and all it means to me, and for protection and supply. All the way there are many opportunities to express good. Every day there is need for greater consecration to our Cause. We who have partaken of the feast must continue to feed the multitude, remembering that five loaves and two fishes furnished abundant supply for the thousands who hungered.
