With deepest gratitude I should like to testify to some...
With deepest gratitude I should like to testify to some of the many blessings I have received through the application of Christian Science. I had been interested in it for about four years, and had experienced many healings, when I met with an accident. One morning I prepared a three-gallon pail of boiling water with a can of concentrated lye dissolved in it, for the purpose of disinfecting my chicken coops. As I started down a flight of steps the heel of my shoe caught in a rug at the top and I was thrown violently down headfirst, landing at the bottom on the cement walk and striking my back. The boiling liquid was thrown over the upper part of my body, burning me severely. My husband immediately called a practitioner, who came to me in a few minutes. She stayed for two hours, at the end of which time all pain had been overcome; even the sense of fire that follows a burn had disappeared. This accident occurred about eleven o'clock in the morning. I slept all that night without any pain. The next day I was able to be around my home overseeing the household duties. In two weeks I was able to attend church services, wearing my usual clothes. This was a most wonderful healing.
I have also been healed of severe colds, grief, and many other discords. Christian Science has indeed been for me the light shining in darkness. I owe everything to this beautiful truth, as given in this age for all mankind by Mary Baker Eddy, who was pure-minded enough to receive the revelation. I am grateful for the practitioners who have helped me over the hard places in life by pointing the way through the Christ, Truth. I am most grateful to God for all the good that has come to me.—(Mrs.) Anna Prothero O'Connell, Seattle, Washington.
