The Line of Right Thinking

What a boon Mrs. Eddy conferred upon suffering humanity by giving it a standard whereby each could individually correct his thought, and bring it into conformity with God's requirements as set forth in the Scriptures, enabling each to avail himself of the blessings promised therein.

The writer feels deeply grateful to our dear Leader for her faithful and loving service in making the Bible teachings clear and practical, showing their applicability to everyday conditions and requirements. Though the reading of the sacred pages was formerly one of the writer's daily duties, yet the Bible was a sealed book until "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy was studied, and the truths therein were applied to the teaching contained in the Scriptures.

In Mrs. Eddy's explanation of the first chapter of Genesis, when defining the firmament she says (Science and Health, p. 505): "Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts consciousness and leads into all truth.... Spiritual sense is the discernment of spiritual good. Understanding is the line of demarcation between the real and unreal. Spiritual understanding unfolds Mind,—Life, Truth, and Love,—and demonstrates the divine sense, giving the spiritual proof of the universe in Christian Science." As we relinquish the belief of life in matter,—the false belief of material sense,—and realize that man lives in God, divine Mind; as we turn our thoughts Spiritward, this proof will be furnished to us in the conscious realization of our God-given dominion over discordant conditions, and in an increased sense of peace, harmony, and blessedness. The truths of being are brought into consciousness as we dwell with God, good, in thought, and put them into practice in deed. The more we realize that good alone is real, the more of that good we are bound to experience in daily life.
