It is eight years since I left doctors and drugs and began to rely on divine Love for my every need. My heart goes out to God and to our dear Leader, who through her inspired word has made plain to our benighted understanding this great truth, which is blessings thousands and thousands all over this land.

Christian Science found me a deplorable wreck; to material sense I was beyond help. I was suffering from a nervous breakdown and bleeding of the inner blood vessels, caused by chronic kidney trouble, which made me helpless. Several prominent doctors said that I never could be cured and that I would never walk again; and at last they said I had only a few hours to live. At that time Christian Science was brought to me through a loving friend, who has since become a practitioner. In a short time I dropped my material remedies, although with fear and trembling, and the trouble that had baffled doctors for months was met in a few weeks. But at first I was not honest, nor was I grateful to God or to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, or to the loving friend who had worked so hard and patiently for my recovery; for, while seeming to give up drugs, I clung to one without her knowledge. "There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed," however; for I came South and my sin found me out. I had been a morphine addict for twenty-five years and thought I could never give up the drug; but when the doctor here told me I should have to go to the hospital and take a cure, as the law prohibited his giving me any more prescriptions, then, and not until then, did I turn entirely to God for help. In my last extremity I visited a practitioner, who with loving-kindness took up the treatment, and I was completely healed of the habit in less than three weeks.

For these physical healings I am indeed grateful to God and to our dear Leader; and words cannot express my gratitude for the understanding of the Bible and of our relation to God gained through the study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and to the loving practitioner, who has worked so faithfully, supporting and cheering me with her wise and loving counsel.
