My family came into Christian Science because of the great need of healing for my sister. Since babyhood she had suffered from eczema and had to wear masks and aluminum mittens to keep her from scratching herself. The best specialists for children's diseases in the Middle West examined her, and all declared it to be the worst case they had ever come in contact with. Each had a different remedy, but none proved satisfactory. One of my father's fellow-employees suggested that Christian Science be given a trial, but my mother refused such aid because she knew very little about its teachings. My sister seemed to get worse, and was then put on a diet, compliance with which the doctors said would enable her to live until she was sixteen years old; otherwise, they held out no hope for her. Even with the diet she could not be freed from the disease. As a last resort my parents turned to Christian Science, and in two absent treatments the disease disappeared, never to return. Needless to say the diet was given up. She is now nineteen years old and in perfect health.

We have had many proofs of healing since that time. In my own case I have found Christian Science to be also a preventive. When error tries to assert itself, I apply my understanding of Truth before the error gets a foothold in my consciousness; and so it returns immediately to its native nothingness.

I am so grateful for having had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School for eleven years. Now that I have finished with it, I find that the periodicals answer all the questions I formerly asked of my teachers; so they are a most wonderful blessing. There are so many things to be grateful for that I do not know where to stop. But to dear Mrs. Eddy for founding Christian Science so firmly that all may have it, I am most grateful.—(Miss) Betty Jane McHugh, Devils Lake, North Dakota.
