"Fear not; I will help thee"

"FOR I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." What a tender message that, for God to give the fearful sons of men through His faithful prophet! And although it was uttered many centuries ago, it rings clearer to the listening ear to-day than ever it did, since a far greater revelation of God's love has been given to the world by Christian Science than was ever conceived of by Isaiah.

Fear is one of the chief enslavers of the human race. Together with ignorance and sin it holds mankind in bondage,—bondage compared with which iron shackles are but as feeble cords. Fear claims to be the great paralyzer of righteous effort; the foe of moral courage; the enemy of spiritual progress; the chief cause of sickness. Indeed, extreme fear not only in belief produces disease, but ultimates in the bitterest of all the enemies of mankind,—death. If fear were scientifically met, sickness would to a great extent be prevented, and longevity would be increased far beyond what at present humanity thinks possible.

Now, as may be inferred from Isaiah's words quoted above, God can become the Helper of all mankind. This may be demonstrated by every one who will take the trouble unbiasedly to study Christian Science, which states, in language so simple that it cannot be misunderstood, the nature of God and God's relationship to His creation, man. And it is through this understanding that fear is scientifically destroyed and God becomes our Helper.
