It is about seventeen years since Christian Science came to me. At that time I was taking many medicines for different ailments, including arsenic for the relief of St. Vitus's dance, from which I had been suffering for many years. After I began the study of Christian Science this weakness left me, only once since trying to appear.

I have also been healed of lack, of fears innumerable, and among other things of a severe scald from boiling fat which fell over my hand when I lifted the dripping tin from the oven. I had heard of "the scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, a few days before. The words, "Man is not material; he is spiritual," came to my rescue, and I repeated them aloud. The pain was still as long as this truth filled my consciousness. Even when the skin pealed off afterwards, I had no discomfort.

I wish also to express my gratitude for the perception of spiritual life when my husband and my son passed on. I am very grateful for class instruction; for the faithful declarations of Truth leading to the uncovering of error; for the Love that guarded, provided, and made it possible for me to receive this blessing of our Leader's wise instituting. I am grateful for the blessing of our Daily Prayer (Manual, p. 41). Mrs. Eddy's Communion Hymn (Poems, p. 75) expresses better than I can what Christian Science means to me. I am glad to know that being obedient expresses more than words ever can.
