The Right Viewpoint

IN preparing to take a picture, the photographer carefully adjusts his camera and properly focuses its lenses. If he does not get the right viewpoint or focus, the picture will not greatly resemble the object. So it is when we view each other. Unless we get the right viewpoint, we do not hold in thought the true image and likeness of God. What, then, is the right viewpoint? Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 468), "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." The right viewpoint must therefore be spiritual, not material.

Since God, Spirit, is good and perfect, and man is His image and likeness, man must be spiritual, good, and perfect; and this is what we behold from the right viewpoint. Everything is gained by accepting the correct viewpoint; nothing is gained by taking the opposite viewpoint. When Pope penned the oft-quoted words,—
