About five years ago, while I was visiting a friend in...
About five years ago, while I was visiting a friend in Toronto, Canada, the power of Truth to heal disease, as demonstrated in Christian Science, was brought to my attention. When I had visited in this same home the previous year, the mother had been confined to bed, suffering with stomach trouble, from which condition there did not seem to be any relief, although numerous methods of treatment had been tried. At the time of the latter visit the mother was a perfectly well woman, actively engaged in all her household duties. Naturally, I inquired what had caused the transformation, and all credit for the healing was attributed to Christian Science. On Sunday the lady invited me to attend church with her, and the sense of harmony, healing, and restfulness experienced at that morning service made me want to know something about the religion that brought about such results.
I began reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and other authorized literature, and within the week was enabled to discontinue wearing glasses, on which I had depended for a number of years. Since that time I have been able to do work that previously I would not have attempted on account of eyestrain, and have been entirely free from headaches, to which I had previously been constantly subject. This alone is cause for much gratitude, but is a very small matter compared with the larger vision one obtains through learning to look away from materiality into Truth and Love.
I am most grateful for even a slight understanding of the truth. The increasing knowledge of God which it is possible to gain through the ample provision that has been made for the student of Christian Science, and the loving help of practitioners and teachers, is cause for constant gratitude.
