I desire to bear witness to the fact that Christian Science,...
I desire to bear witness to the fact that Christian Science, as revealed to the world by Mary Baker Eddy, does heal the sick. In March, 1915, I began reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. In three months I was able to lay aside glasses, and was healed of sick headaches and biliousness. I studied our Leader's statements on page 479 of Science and Health, where she declares that "matter cannot see, feel, hear, taste, nor smell," and says, "Take away so-called mortal mind, which constitutes matter's supposed selfhood, and matter can take no cognizance of matter." Carefully pondering all of the paragraph, I was able to understand that we do not see through matter or material glasses, but that we see spiritually. This spiritual understanding enabled me to lay aside glasses. Bilious attacks were met at the same time. Later, while nursing a patient, I experienced healing from influenza within a few hours. Chills and fever and unconsciousness were in evidence part of the time. I clung to the thought that God is all-power, to the best of my understanding, and proved God to be very near. I soon was able to take care of my patient. I have also found Christian Science a very great help with my teeth.
This is only a small part of what Christian Science has done for me. I am truly grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science, which is the truth whereof the Master bore witness, and which he said would make free from sickness as well as from sin. This testimony is given in proof of the all-power of God and His loving protection.—(Miss) Iva B. Smith, Denver, Colorado.
