[Original testimony in German]
Deep gratitude for the wonderful healing in Christian Science...
Deep gratitude for the wonderful healing in Christian Science experienced in the greatest extremity causes me to give this testimony. One afternoon early in June, 1923, I lay down to rest for a short time. I awoke with fever and suffering great pain. However, I went to work the next morning, and worked the whole week; but then my strength failed me. I was forced to visit a physician. He diagnosed the difficulty as serious intestinal inflammation, caused by pressure, and prescribed different things for me to use. The following week I was not able to walk, for a large swelling had formed. The physician who was called in said that I must be taken to the hospital; that he could do nothing more for me, and I must undergo an operation at once.
In this extremity an acquaintance called our attention to Christian Science. I received several copies of the Herald of Christian Science, from which my wife read to me, and we requested this dear acquaintance to telephone to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. Treatment was most lovingly given immediately; but the terrible pains and high fever did not yield at once. My wife and I, however, held firmly to the truth and did not use any material means; for we then realized, thanks to Christian Science, that there is the loving God, who is ever near. The result was that the swelling disappeared, the pain left me, and all the organs functioned again. I could sleep, eat, and be joyful. I soon took up my work again with love and gratitude.
I am very grateful to Christian Science for this healing. My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, who restored this wonderful truth, is great. Since that time I have earnestly studied the Christian Science literature. I attend the church services and testimony meetings, and shall strive to learn more and more of this wonderful teaching.
