Law

"O How love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day." What a glorious privilege to be able to make this declaration to-day, the same declaration the prophet made centuries before the Christian era. To meditate, or in other words, to dwell mentally upon the grandeur and sublimity of God's law in its universal adaptation to all peoples, places, and conditions, requires spiritual understanding as to man's relationship to God, understanding of the law governing this relationship.

Now that so much is being said and written regarding law and its enforcement, surely it is good for every Christian Scientist to make a careful and prayerful inventory of his concept of law, and obey the behests of his revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. Let us often ask ourselves the questions stated in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 496): "Am I living the life that approaches the supreme good? Am I demonstrating the healing power of Truth and Love?"

If all who claim to be Jesus' followers were obeying his positive commands to "preach the gospel," "heal the sick," and "cast out devils," we may be sure that the kingdom of heaven would already have come nigh unto them, since they have been ready and willing to say, "O how love I thy law!" Every right thinking person will sooner or later comprehend that by dwelling mentally upon the law of God, which is the basis of all justice, mercy, purity, and impartiality, Christians will establish peace on earth, good will to men.
