[Written for the Sentinel]

Consecration

Live the Christ-life, and ease thy troubled heart;
Think the Christ-thoughts, and rest thy wearied mind.
Let peace and joy possess thee unconfined;
For thou hast chosen now the better part—
The riches true, not those of mankind's mart,
Where Love and Truth and Life we nowhere find
Regarded as the pearl of price, enshrined
For those who seek to dwell with God apart.
Oh, let the kingdom that is God's within
Thee, fill thy heart and come with healing power
To free thy flesh from ills, thy thoughts from sin,
Supply thine ev'ry want from hour to hour;
So shalt thou feel to all God's world akin,
Joint-heir with Christ, th' eternal, thy high tower.
