It is with a heart full of gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus,...
It is with a heart full of gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and last, but not least, to the loving practitioners and members of the Church of Christ, Scientist, who have helped us and guided us by letting their light so shine that it has illumined our path, that I give this testimony.
Given up by medical practitioners to the life of an invalid, with the prospect of only a few years ahead at the most, Christian Science came to me at a time when I wanted to pass on, hoping that death would relieve my suffering. The case had been pronounced by physicians one of aneurism of a heart artery. This trouble had affected the heart action so much that I often fell into a stupor, at which times the heart barely beat.
I was so steeped in belief in material remedies that when Christian Science was offered to me I could not believe it. I did not believe that God would help any one, as I had been told that my illness was a punishment from God. I had a pastor call on me so that I could ask him a reason for these seeming difficulties. I asked so many questions which he was unable to answer that he finally said no one could tell me the things I wished to know. These questions have since been answered by loving Christian Science practitioners. I received more help and hope from my first visit to a practitioner than I ever knew existed. As a result, six weeks after starting treatment I was able to go back to the factory where I worked, something I had never expected to do again. Given light work at first, I gradually worked back to my former place, as I grew to know that God was my Life and my strength, and that all things were possible to divine Love.
