It is eleven years since I began the study of Christian Science, or rather the reading of the Christian Science literature. I did not take up the reading for physical healing, but through meeting so many Scientists who appeared to be so perfectly happy and contented. Thanks to God, and to Mary Baker Eddy, our dear Leader, my thoughts became purer. I gained a better understanding of God and His idea, and also of the Bible, which has been a revelation to me, as I had never read it with any degree of intelligence until I read it in connection with our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

I have had many beautiful demonstrations, for which I am most thankful. My first healing was that of chronic headaches, and it was instantaneous. During one of these attacks, which usually lasted two or three days, my mother, who was interested in Christian Science and had experienced a number of healings, asked me if I would not try it. I told her I should be glad to try anything that she thought would help me. She then called a practitioner; and in less than half an hour I was entirely healed. This was fifteen years ago, and I have never had a return of the trouble. The healing took place before I even began the reading of Christian Science literature.

For several years I just accepted this healing, without a thought of taking up the study. However, in 1913, when my husband's relatives were visiting us, I noticed that they never failed each day to read what they called the daily lesson; and one morning I asked if they would mind if I sat with them to hear this lesson. They of course said they would be glad to have me. From that time on I have been reading and studying Christian Science,—first by reading the Sentinel, then the Lesson-Sermon, and finally everything I could get that pertained to Christian Science. I have been healed of constipation dating from childhood; and it has now been seven years since I have resorted to material remedies of any kind. I am happy to state I have learned a better way. The greatest thing that has come into my life through this study is that peace "which passeth all understanding," that knowledge that man is the image and likeness of God, "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
