In the spring of 1915, I first began the study of Christian Science
In the spring of 1915, I first began the study of Christian Science. At that time a dear friend invited me to a lecture on Christian Science, for I was very much in need of help, having doctored for nine years for severe stomach trouble and also a growth over the right kidney which gave me constant pain. Most of the time it was not possible for me to retain the food I ate, although I was obedient to the instruction of the doctors as to what I should eat and drink. I consulted both allopathic and osteopathic physicians, took electrical treatment, and also tried several kinds of patent medicine, but continued to grow worse.
After listening to the lecture, the next day I borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from a Christian Science Reading Room, and immediately began the earnest study of it. The result was that in about two weeks I was completely healed without the aid of a practitioner. That was over nine years ago, and I have never had any return of the old trouble. Since then I have had many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science. I am more grateful than I can express for the blessings I have received, and for the understanding I have gained of God and of man in His image and likeness.—Christian V. Hansen, Oakland, California.
