Signs of the Times

[From the Star, Muncie, Indiana, June 9, 1924]

In addressing a group of people recently, Dr. John W. Nicely said: "Another faculty that you have developed while you were in college is the faculty of appreciation. Are we appreciative of that which God has placed in our hands through our friends? ... The art of appreciation depends not so much on that which we see outwardly, as on that which we see inwardly. We cannot truly appreciate a thing if we only let its impression fall on our outward eyes. Service to those around us should always be in the student's mind. Think not only of dollars and cents. If you do, you will become miserly. ... Nobody on earth can alone do that which is right,—can think good, clean, pure, clear thoughts,—but with the aid of Christ, all things can be accomplished."
