A bishop is reported as having said that one of the mistakes of Christian Science "is its complete feminization." One might get the impression from this statement that the Christian Science church was more for women than men, because established by a woman; but this is not the case. Many of the directors, lecturers, readers, and other officers, as well as members of the Christian Science denomination, are men. Nor does Christian Science mean more to women than to men, because an understanding of Christian Science is equally helpful to both sexes. Let one attend a Christian Science church in any city and he can see for himself that the "complete feminization of Christian Science," as the bishop puts it, has done no harm; for he will find there, at both Wednesday evening meetings and Sunday services, a large percentage of men, showing that Christian Science appeals to and benefits men and women equally. The command of the Master is equally incumbent upon the female as well as the male to preach the gospel and heal the sick.
