For seventeen years I have been receiving the benefits of Christian Science study; and, like countless others, I can never tell the depth of my gratitude for it. That I am one of that happy multitude who have learned that the revelations about God contained in the Bible are really true, that His goodness and care are provable, and that one may really do the works required by Christ Jesus of his followers,—these immeasurable blessings are surely great enough to call forth all the gratitude of which one is capable.

I was very much opposed to what I thought Christian Science to be until my first healing, and nothing but a most unwonted humility born of deepest discouragement enabled me so far to forget my foolish pride and self-will as to ask for Christian Science treatment. The practitioner who helped me, however, reflected so clearly the love and harmony I so sadly needed, that the old, bad antipathies were quite forgotten and Truth did its healing work. The physical ailments which were holding me in continual bondage included chronic asthma, intermittent but persistent head colds, pleurisy, tonsillitis, and headaches, with such a fear of east winds that I was always wretched while they lasted. These conditions have all been completely healed, and a most uneven and critical disposition all but forgotten.

A burned hand and a sprained ankle were overcome during my first year of Christian Science study. The hand was burned in a mishap which threatened to burn a building, and the case was complicated by much fear and excitement. The fright and the burn were instantly healed, and this while all that caused the fright was still present. The severely sprained ankle was received on shipboard at the beginning of a four months' travel trip, and was perfectly healed in less than one day, although the thoughts surrounding me seemed to be strongly antagonistic to all I was striving to know.
