Prior to July, 1918, I eagerly tried all doctors and their remedies, from allopathy to chiropractic. Since the aforementioned date, I have touched neither pill, powder, nor pellet; and solely through the efficacy of Christian Science I have been healed of the following chronic ailments, most of which gave me intense agony and distress: stomach trouble of over eighteen years' standing; constipation, which I endured for an equal length of time; and catarrh in an advanced stage. I have also been healed of a malignant case of war itch, which kept me awake at night. One day, about an hour before noon, I had to leave my work on account of a very severe toothache. On arriving home, I threw myself on the bed and asked my wife to call a practitioner. It was about half past twelve when I finally went to sleep. I do not remember how long I slept, but when I awoke the ache had disappeared into its native nothingness, and has never bothered me since. That to me was an instantaneous healing, and a wonderful one.
I could go on indefinitely relating my blessings. I shall mention a few of the proofs my wife has had of the power of divine Principle. She has been healed of double astigmatism and conjunctivitis, for which she wore glasses for over fourteen years. Now her eyes are normal; and she has a vision that she never possessed before. Her sense of smell, of which she was deprived for twelve years, has likewise been restored. She has also been healed of a deep cold, cough, and severe sore throat.
To say that I am grateful would be stating it mildly. But to God I offer thanks and praise indeed; and my prayer is that I may be forever conscious of His ever-presence, and that my understanding of Him may increase daily. My gratitude to Christ Jesus, as well as to Mary Baker Eddy, who proved his teachings practical, is such that my great desire is to be obedient to the precepts of Truth. To the practitioners who have helped us, at any time when called upon, even when aroused from sleep in the small hours of the morning, I also extend my gratitude; and may they increase in spiritual understanding so that they may be an even greater assistance and help to mankind.
