Christian Science does not insist that healing is accomplished...

Sunday American

Christian Science does not insist that healing is accomplished through the human or "carnal" mind, designated by Paul as "enmity against God." Neither is Christian Science designated to fit any one's particular mode of thinking. It teaches correctly how all may express that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," according to the apostle's admonition.

To this age Mary Baker Eddy reveals the Science of divine Mind through her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Those who study and apply this Science prove it to be demonstrable, healing sickness and destroying sin. Christian Science teaches that the power to heal is not in mortal mind, but is a quality of God, reflected by man. The authority for teaching that God is Spirit is found in the Bible; as, indeed, the Bible is the only authority and basis of Mrs. Eddy's discovery. In Psalms we read, "Great is our Lord and of great power: his understanding is infinite." Is there not sufficient reason, in the light of the Psalmist's realization of God as infinite understanding, for God to be known as infinite Mind? Christian Scientists are striving daily to reflect that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," constantly assuring and reassuring themselves that Mind is God; and as man is God's image and likeness, they have the right to reflect this Mind. Accompanying this understanding comes the privilege and power to heal discordant conditions. On page 372 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," appears this statement: "Remember, brain is not mind;" and on page 492: "God is Mind, and God is infinite; hence all is Mind. On this statement rests the Science of being, and the Principle of this Science is divine, demonstrating harmony and immortality."
