[Original testimony in French]
I am happy to be able to testify to the ever present,...
I am happy to be able to testify to the ever present, divine power of God, which strengthens us at all times. One day, on entering the home where I was working, I sat down in front of a table on which was a tambour frame, the handle of which was turned towards me. As I seated myself somewhat hastily, this wooden handle entered my eye, so that my vision was obscured, and sharp pains followed. I covered the eye with a handkerchief and realized the truth of spiritual being,—that infinite good is ever present; at the same time denying the pain. Those who surrounded me were very much agitated, whereas I was able to keep very calm. They urged me to go and put water on the eye. I was glad to leave the room; for thus I could be alone to gain a more complete realization of the truth. When I reentered the room, seeing blood on my handkerchief they gave a cry of fear. I assured them the pain had gone, and I set to work again with much peace and joy. They tried to persuade me to go to an oculist; but this I declined to do. In the evening, I went to the church service, though I felt the eye must be in a very bad condition. On my way home from the meeting, I asked a practitioner to help me to realize the truth, which she very lovingly did. The next day my friend bathed the eye, as it seemed necessary to wash away the coagulated blood. Then she saw the danger I had encountered, for a wound one third of an inch long was noticeable under the pupil. The sclerotic coat had been pierced. My friend had me read from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (pp. 214, 215) these lines: "Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses of Soul. ... Spirit's senses are without pain, and they are forever at peace. Nothing can hide from them the harmony of all things and the might and permanence of Truth." Next day I rested; and the third day I went back to work without stopping to rest any longer. A heavy feeling over the eyes seemed to manifest itself, but disappeared after the second treatment. No one seemed to notice it, for there was no suppuration; and in less than eight days all was harmonious.
I am deeply grateful to God for His wonderful deliverance, for the profound peace which He gives us in time of seeming danger, and the joy that comes from serving Him alone. I am grateful to Christian Science for the divine teachings that we are able to draw from it each day, in order to be firm in the truth.
